Curriculum

KapuraHalfway Bush School offers a wide range of innovative programmes for children. Our major focus is the development of quality teaching and learning programmes in Literacy and Numeracy. Helping children to develop the ability to speak, read, and write independently and with confidence is a priority for our teaching staff. Our mathematics programmes are based around the Numeracy Project, where children are supported to develop both their number knowledge and number strategies in a fun learning environment.

We use an Inquiry approach in the teaching of Health, Science, Social Science and Technology. This approach is built upon the idea that students are actively involved in learning and continually  reconstruct understandings in the light of experience. It encourages students to participate in active investigation, and to integrate knowledge as they develop deep understandings.

Lynne and Jackson

Children enjoy experiences in Art, Music, Dance and Drama. These areas together with regular Physical Education, Sport and Outdoor Education opportunities ensure a well rounded education.

Our teachers recognise that there are a variety of ways to learn and provide programmes that cater for a range of learning styles. Children are encouraged to identify their SMART or preferred mode of learning.

During their time at Halfway Bush school children will be exposed to a wide range of thinking tools. This will ensure that children develop a range of strategies to organise, record and reflect upon their thinking.
